Plague (Downpour)

Ravindra Reddy

Patrick Goddard is a versatile artist known for using various art mediums to explore social, political, and environmental themes. His works traverse a diverse range of subjects, from ecology and the Anthropocene to race politics, gentrification, and urbanization.

“Plague (Downpour)’ is a commissioned artwork delving into environmental decay and political commentary. Crafted with lead-cast frogs descending from the heavens, it echoes concerns about ecological degradation, underscoring the message through the use of heavy lead material.

The 400 piece installation unveils a biblical-scale deluge of amphibians, representing intrusive non-human phenomena. It serves as a counterpoint to the controlled zoo environment, offering a wild resurgence of the repressed. It provokes contemplation on the untamed aspects of our world that persist despite human intervention.”
