Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin & David Soin Tappeser) at the 61st Venice Biennale

‘In Minor Keys’, curated by Koyo Kouoh for the 61st Venice Biennale, unfolds as a meditation on the quieter, often imperceptible forces that shape our worlds, privileging slowness, subtlety, and attunement over spectacle. The installation created by the artist and writer Himali Singh Soin, with the percussionist and composer David Soin Tappeser, is a site-specific score to create a space of rest and feel a sense of planetariness. The artists have researched polar regions and icy imaginaries, as well as the strange and deep-time connections between the Indian subcontinent and Antarctica, going back to Pangaea, forming a South Asian futurism manifesto, then transcribed into a Ikat, woven by artisan Gajam Govardhan.

The works by artist duo Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin & David Soin Tappeser) are on view at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
