Urban Innovation Challenge:

Urban Innovation Challenge a unique opportunity for social innovators to collaborate with the Department of Engineering, ivy league schools, RMZ Foundation and Cowrks India to create greater social impact.

The Challenge empowers young problem solvers to propose a unique solution to a given theme/ problem with the potential to benefit a large population in the society and get empowered with tools, community and connections with unrestricted capital to make their idea grow from a prototype to a fully functional organization, bringing their bold vision into reality.

The Theme for Urban Innovation Challenge 2018:

FUTURE OF WORK: Driven by accelerating connectivity, new talent models, and cognitive tools, work is changing. As robotics, AI, the gig economy and crowds grow, jobs are being reinvented, creating the “augmented workforce.” We must reconsider how jobs are designed and work to adapt and learn for future growth.

how does the model work

  • find- The Urban Innovation Challenge shall identify top 15 urban solutions for the cities and also extraordinary leaders with passion and determination to build scalable solutions to complex social issues
  • fund- The Innovation challenge shall be funded by RMZ Foundation with multi- layer unrestricted capital which is critical to early stage ideas to grow exponentially.
  • mentor- Department of Engineering, Columbia University shall support the innovation challenge from prototype to fully functional stage with an aim to build a long term relationship with RMZ Foundation to create positive social impact in India.

Urban Innovation Hub

The CoWrks Foundry proposes establishing an interdisciplinary urban tech centre called the Urban Innovation Hub (UL) in collaboration with real estate innovation lab and Woh Hup. The UL will be a space for Urban Tech startups solving for the Indian ecosystem, founded by both real estate innovation lab alumni/ students/ faculty and local entrepreneurs.

Woh Hup is Singapore’s principal player in the building of private residential and commercial developments and a leader in largescale civil engineering works.

RMZ Foundation promotes promote the well-being of lesser abled members of society as well as engage with impact initiatives to reach out to the public and build communities.

Role: Woh Hup & RMZ Foundation will identify potentially scalable Urban Tech startups, and provide the funding that allows them to launch and scale rapidly. The partners shall acquire a stake in each startup (the equity take will be determined on a case-by-case basis).

Implementation Partner

The CoWrks Foundry is a startup accelerator focused on incubating young startups, specifically in the socialenterprise, urban tech and enterprise tech domains through a disciplined 6-month program.

Role: The CoWrks Foundry will provide the startups with access to capital networks, incubation support, infrastructure, technology, legal and regulatory support, community, tailored events, and a networking channel during incubation.
